Use the most shallow drawer you can fit your stuff in, or use compartments. Small things + Deep drawer = Junk Drawer!
Store things as close as possible to where you use them - they are much more likely to get put away that way.
Get rid of stray pieces of paper by using a notebook to take all your notes down. Date the pages so you can find what you're looking for later.
